Historical Walking Tours
Summon Henry Flagler, conjure up Addison Mizner and channel other colorful characters as you stroll through Old Palm Beach on one of the Worth Avenue Association's popular "Historical Walking Tours of Wonderful Worth Avenue." Conducted on select Wednesdays throughout the season and Saturdays throughout the summer, these popular strolls are guided by James Ponce, proclaimed Palm Beach's only "Two Legged Historical Landmark" by the Palm Beach Town Council in 1996. Complete with top hat, pocket watch and walking cane, Ponce assumes the persona of Flagler during the tours as he shares the history of Worth Avenue and environs.
Ponce's popular tours and his longstanding reputation as the island's unofficial historian have been transformed into a 30-minute documentary on Worth Avenue's history--starring Ponce himself. Drawing from his own memories, including boyhood recollections of his father's association with Henry Flagler himself, Jim Ponce recounts the facts and fables of Palm Beach's illustrious history. Beginning with larger-than-life founder Henry Flagler, James Ponce guides us through the photographs, film clips, live interviews and candid portraits of one of the most celebrated places: "Worth Avenue . . . The Best Address in Palm Beach."
The film has been underwritten by Franklyn de Marco and Nancy Sharigan, owners of the Avenue's landmark restaurant, Taboo; the Cook Family of Palm Beach; and select members of the Worth Avenue Association, including The Goodman Company, Maus & Hoffman and Tourneau, and is available for purchase on this website.
